These sockets and switches are much heavier than standard sockets and switches with the Brass and Copper versions weighing up to 4.5kg / 9.9lb
They need to be mounted to a solid wall and are not suitable for plasterboard / stud walls.

What is a Switched Plug Socket?
Switched Sockets are also known as Switched Socket Outlets or Wall Plugs. They are available in single or double versions. Each individual socket can be isolated by its own on/off switch. The Switched Sockets we sell are Double Pole (DP) which means that the switch breaks both the Live and the Neutral poles – this is widely regarded as the safest way to isolate an electrical socket.
Our Switched Sockets also have 2 earth terminals as well as a live and a neutral terminal and these terminals will accept up to 3 x 2.5mm Twin & Earth Cables or 2 x 4.0mm Twin & Earth Cables.
We recommend 25mm deep wall boxes for mounting our sockets or 35mm deep wall boxes for shallow or flat plate Sockets.
